Veterinarian
Dr. Ravi Ramcharitar is a distinguished veterinarian who graduated as one of the best students in 2007 from the University of the West Indies. In 2008, he transformed his vision of compassionate, first-world veterinary care into reality by founding Vet Express, a clinic he has built, owned, and managed with unwavering dedication.
A passionate advocate for animals, Dr. Ramcharitar is devoted to providing exceptional care to those without a voice. His expertise extends beyond routine veterinary medicine, as he is actively advancing his knowledge in the surgical field—a testament to his commitment to excellence.
Dr. Ramcharitar’s career also shines in the realm of large animal surgery and medicine. He is a recognized specialist in herd health, reproductive medicine and genetics including artificial insemination and embryo transfer in goats, sheep, and cows, helping to drive innovation and success in this critical area of veterinary science in Trinidad and Canada.
As a respected member of the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Council and the AO Trauma and Orthopedic Organization, Dr. Ramcharitar remains at the forefront of advancements in veterinary medicine. His mission is clear: to elevate the standard of care for all animals, protect their well-being, and inspire trust in every client he serves.
Veterinarian
I'm Dr. Kalidia Millette (DVM Hons, BSc) graduate of the University of the West Indies, School of Veterinary Medicine class of 2017. I started my initial years in practice as a shelter veterinarian at the TTSPCA in the sister isle of Tobago before entering into private practice. I've been a part of Vet Express as an Associate Veterinarian for 5+ years and hope to make this clinic my place of retirement.
My interests are small animal medicine (especially internal medicine and anesthesia/diagnostics). I love the various challenges medicine brings and I hope to further my education in these areas to elevate the quality of care I can provide for my patients. I most enjoy down time in the clinic with my team (I have a fantastic team of co-workers) and obviously all the puppies and especially cats and rescues (I've grown fondly of them after working in shelter); but I'm most passionate about imparting knowledge to my clients as we as a caribbean move towards a pet parenting lifestyle. I love working hard for my patients/fur babies and building a partnership between myself, my clinic and my clients.
Fun facts: I love music and singing (even if I'm bad at it) but soca will always get me in a good mood so I serenade my patients a lot! I'm a cat mum to 2 kittens! In my spare time I read (I'm currently reading The Psychology of Money) and keep up to date with medical journals and publications, watch reruns of Grey's Anatomy and anime/manga. My favorite place is Black Rock Beach, Tobago at sunset.
Veterinarian
As a proud alumnus of the UWI School of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2017, I've had the privilege of living and working in the US for four years. However, the call of home - and let's be honest, the craving for a good roti - proved too strong, and I returned to Trinidad and Tobago. I'm now thrilled to be back in the Caribbean, bringing my skills and experience to make a positive impact in my community.
Being a veterinarian pushes me to be my best self,as it requires a unique blend of science, empathy, and communication skills. I love the challenge of continually growing and improving.
I am the proud mother of two fur babies, Sir Fig Newton and Bane. When I’m not in the clinic I'm almost always on the hunt for my next favorite dish, and love exploring new destinations to try all the local eats.
Veterinary Assistant/Technician
I’m Shurland King and I work at Vet Express located at 100 Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay. I was blessed with the position of Veterinary Assistant/Technician and with every position of any job, there are pros and cons which can be very challenging at times. However, I do enjoy the role that I play and the fact that I get to contribute to the animal kingdom in ways that benefit their health and lifestyle.
As a Veterinary Assistant/Technician I am like the Veterinarian’s shadow, nearby helping and assisting. I restrain dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep, goats, cows, pigs even birds when the Vet needs to treat whatever illness the animal has at that time, I even help perform life saving surgeries. I have a fair amount of knowledge and experience restraining and treating animals due to my time spent at the Eastern Caribbean Institute of Agriculture and Forestry (E.C.I.A.F) Campus UTT, where I earned a Diploma in Animal Health Production and Veterinary Public Health. It was a 2-year program that taught participants about the welfare of animals and how the relationship between humans and animals can be improved.
I also enjoy singing/writing music and other recreational activities when I am off work, my goal is to keep moving up to acquire my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and become a Vet
Receptionist
Chantal Forde has been a dedicated receptionist at Vet Express since 2022, providing exceptional front-desk support in a fast-paced veterinary clinic environment. As the first point of contact for clients, Chantal takes pride in ensuring that each visit is as comfortable and welcoming as possible, whether the situation is joyful or challenging. While her professional experience with animals has been largely limited to her personal pets, Chantal has embraced the opportunity to learn and grow in the veterinary field, making it a rewarding and enriching experience.
In her spare time, Chantal enjoys singing, baking, sharing laughter with loved ones, and playing cards—particularly All Fours with a partner who knows the signs. Her guilty pleasure is spending time at the beach, but without a doubt, the highlight of her workday is interacting with the puppies that walk through the clinic doors.
Chantal's warm personality and dedication to customer care make her an invaluable part of the Vet Express team.
Administrative
Hi! I'm Kanela Sooknanan, your friendly Practice Manager by day and content creator by... well, also by day. As a Management Studies graduate from the University of the West Indies, I take care of the administrative things behind the scenes so that our team can focus on what really matters—taking care of you! When I’m not doing the administrative tasks, I’m creating fun and informative content to keep you in the loop on all things Vet Express!
My favourite thing about this job? It’s the fact that medicine is ever changing; there’s always something new to learn. I use this knowledge to connect with clients and the public through engaging content and behind-the-scenes glimpses of life at our practice. Whether you're here for our quality medicine and top-tier customer service, or just to see what we're up to (and all the cute animals), I'm excited to share it with you!
Fun facts about me: Being behind the scenes also extends into my personal life; I’m an avid reader, chef and artist (all solo activities). I’ve also been known to drop the occasional bad pun, so feel free to hit me with your worst jokes (sorry Chantal!).
